Weekly Pack Walk

March 26, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

A FREE weekly event hosted by Ineke Turner of Turner & Pooch Dog Training

Pack Walks are the perfect opportunity for both you and your dog to enjoy some exercise and socialization while connecting with an experienced dog trainer and other dog lovers like you! Let’s be clear — Pack Walks are lots of fun but they are not playtime. (Leave your sticks and balls at home!) They are a learning opportunity and a chance to practice leash manners, leadership and being out with your dog in a group.

Pack Walks are open to all dogs regardless of behaviour problems. Don’t be embarrassed if your dog has no leash manners, barks, is reactive or even showing signs of aggression. I know it can be stressful but we are here to help. As long as you can control your dog, you are still welcome to join us. In fact, you are exactly who Pack Walks were made for.

Because our Pack Walks are open to all dogs, there are some ground rules all participants should follow to get the most out the experience.

Arrive early and let your dog do his “business” and burn off some energy before connecting with the group.

Safety first. If you are concerned about your dog mouthing or biting other dogs or people, I ask that they be muzzled for the Pack Walk.

Don’t allow your dog to approach other participants uninvited. Other dogs or dog owners may not appreciate a strange dog walking up to them and might be at the Pack Walk because their dog has issues with other dogs.

Because we will be walking downtown in public spaces and on foot trails, all dogs must be leashed on a standard 4’ or 6’ leash. No flexi leashes or extendable leashes are allowed!

You are welcome to bring and use any other training tools you like as long as they are being used responsibly.

Dress for the weather and remember to bring along some water for you and your dog.

If you are worried about coming, all I can say is that I have seen it all! Your dog is going to do much better than you think and you will learn so much from talking to other dog owners and observing them with their dogs.

Most importantly, if you have questions just ask! I want to help you.

I will circulate through the group as we walk to help out as needed. If the problem behaviours you are addressing are more than we can deal with on a Pack Walk, I will invite you to contact me to talk about further training options.

Join our free weekly pack walks in downtown Peterborough. All dogs and owners welcome to join.
